To Him That Ovecometh         Preached in 1987

This message is preached from Revelation 2:1-7. All the promises of the Bible are for the one who overcomes. Seven times in chaphters 2 and 3 of Revelation, the words are resounded, "to him that overcometh". The one that makes it to the rapture will be the one who overcomes.

Pastor Clendennen uses Gideon as the example. He is a man hiding from the Midianites by the winepress when the angel of the Lord says to him, "The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour." God saw an inner strength in Gideon to overcome the enemy, and went on to use him and his small army to defeat the enemies of God.

Gideon's strength was in that God sent him. Gideon became faithful, obedient and committed because he submitted himself unto the Lord. Gideon was an overcomer! Unless the pitcher is broken, all the world will see is us, "Let your light so shine" and you will be an overcomer, and all the promises will be yours.
