Pastor Duke Downs, a minister's son, was raised in a Christian home and attended his father's church in Artesia, California. He served the Lord until the time of his father's death, and in his own words, "When Dad died, God died for me."
He ran from the call of God to preach the Gospel, but while visiting his mother in Arkansas in 1980, he came back to the Lord in her home church.
In 1988, Living Waters was birthed in a little storefront church located in Olinda Village, California. They soon outgrew the building and relocated to Chino, where they have been for the past twenty-two years.
Today you'll find nearly five to six hundred people, worshiping in a beautifully remodeled church. A hallowed spot is around the altar, which stretches completely across the sanctuary, and you'll seldom see it without someone kneeling in prayer there. Stressed, in fact, a top priority is the importance of regular prayer and fasting.
Living Waters is made up of people from all walks of life. They are dedicated to seeing lives changed, no matter what their background.
"There is no lack..." Pastor Duke preaches and practices that God will get it to you if He can get it through you. Finances have come to him in the most unusual, unexpected ways. A waitress gave thirty-five thousand dollars in a paper bag for missions. Living Waters used it to build a children's orphanage in Mazatlan, Mexico. God has allowed Living Waters Church to build churches, supply missionaries with transportation and housing all over the world.
Living Waters supports many missions. One of those missions is the School of Christ International. Living Waters has sent out their missionaries to over thirty-five countries. The heart of this ministry is not just within the four walls, but also to go out into every part of the world and preach this gospel to every creature.
Pastor Downs has been the Senior Pastor of Living Waters Church in Chino, California for over twenty-two years. He has a heart for missions that God birthed in him while in Russia in 1992 with B. H. Clendennen. Through his anointed message, God has used him to stir the church in this final hour and bring deliverance to those that are bound.
"The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into His harvest." Matthew 9:37-38
