The School of Christ in China
I recently went to China to meet with leaders and believers of the underground church. I had the opportunity to teach the Word of God and talk with them concerning establishing the School Of Christ International to train their leaders and workers who are traveling the country preaching and planting secret house churches.
In the last few years, there have been thousands of video CD schools reproduced and placed all over China. The School of Christ International also shipped over nearly fifty audio cassette duplicators with the School of Christ masters, creating the potential of producing tens of thousands of audio schools of distribution to Chinese believers.
The word we have received from China is that the School of Christ is the most sought after Bible training material in the country.
During this trip, I met with workers from one of China's largest House Church movements. They have around three million members across the country. This group sends out workers to every province as native missionaries. These, (mostly young people) share the gospel, plant churches and train others to be disciples. During our meetings together we agreed to set up official School of Christ in various parts of the country. In one city of around four million we will run an eight week school, where Chinese workers will come and be trained in the Word of God and experience the prayer discipline of the school. They probably will not be allowed to leave the entire length of the school because of security reasons.
For this school, two apartments will be rented and furnished to house the group. They will literally be shut away with God for the two months. When they leave the school their only agenda will be to reach the lost masses of China's one billion three hundred million.
The next school will be opened in an area known as the hotbed of persecution. Believers are constantly arrested, fined, and imprisoned for years. From here we expect to start schools in hundreds of cities. The opportunity is perhaps unequaled in the history of Chinese missions!
The need for the School Of Christ International in China can only be fully realized after having worked with the underground Christians, who number from seventy to ninety million. Because of the shortage of Bible training among believers, there is a lack of the most basic scriptural knowledge among millions of Chinese Christians. Bibles are hard to come by and illegal for house church believers to possess. The leadership is untrained in the scriptures and therefore heresy and false teaching run rampant, which is a great hindrance in evangelizing the hundreds of millions who have never heard the name of Jesus.
When I left China, I was almost overwhelmed at the open door that is before us. Through your support of the School of Christ International you will help train thousands of Chinese nationals, and thereby reap eternal fruit among the precious people of China who might have never heard otherwise.
