The Venezuela Report
Many times over the past thirty years, as we worked with the Guajiro Indian in Venezuela, it seemed as though our efforts were merely a 'ripple on the water'. We have gone through fires, floods and a lot of confusion. But we know we must continue. Working with Wycliffe to get the New Testament translated into the language of the Gauriro Indians was also a long process. Sister Chance and I traveled there on the fifteenth of July, for the first time since the terrorist attacks in New York on September 11, 2001. We discovered that the School of Christ International has not missed a beat.
We have graduated 133 students at Moina, Venezuela. Brother Gustavo told us that 143 have gone through the School of Christ in Valencia, Venezuela. All of this in just five and one-half years. We were able to visit many new churches that have been started by the graduates.
At the graduation of the School of Moina, we announced to the indians (275 were present) that the New Testament was complete and would be in Venezuela by October for distribution. It took forever to quiet them down to continue the graduation! Think of the generations that have lived and died without the Bible in their language. We witnessed a mighty revival in progress throughout the entire country of South America. There is now a spiritual river flowing, thanks to the Wycliffe Bible Translators. We also thank Brother B. H. Clendennen for allowing us to be a part of the School of Christ International.
